Blacksmith workshops are one-on-one or small group workshops that we offer in 4 hour, 8 hour, 2-day or 3-day workshops. The small workshop sizes allow us to fit into your schedule. Contact us to request alternate workshop times for the dates provided.

Workshops are focused on shop safety while exploring traditional and modern techniques of forging iron. Projects in 100 level workshops are set with room to progress dependent on the participants interests and skill set.

BLACKSMITH EXPERIENCE - PBS 100 (4 hr) Instructor: Dylan Cook

No experience necessary. This one-day workshop is ideal for those curious about forging who want to try blacksmithing in a supportive, hands-on setting. Participants will learn safety fundamentals and receive an introduction to the heat, hammer, and anvil. By the end of the session you'll have made a simple forged piece and know whether you want to continue.

INTRO TO FORGING (PBS 101) — 1 Day (8 hr) Instructor: Dylan Cook

No experience necessary. This one-day workshop covers safety and introduces the essential tools of forging: heat, hammer, and anvil. Emphasis is placed on hammer control and effective use of the anvil while practicing the fundamental techniques of hot forging. Participants will complete and take home up to three finished projects.

BEGINNING BLACKSMITH (PBS 102) - 2 Day (16 hr)

Instructor: Dylan Cook

No experience necessary. This class is everything from PBS 101 and with a focus on forging techniques and different materials (solid, pipe, high carbon) and an intro into tool making and heat treatment.

No experience necessary. Intensive “Crash Course” for the beginning smith. This is RECOMMENDED for people pursuing ABANA National Curriculum Level 1 Certification.
